The Metro

Here we are... The Stage, lights, small background noise from speakers, the last 100 grams, somebody still smoking, somebody is still looking for the right position for accessories in spite of no point doing that. Elina is still absent as usual, meanwhile the warm up dj is unstopable pushing the play button of his barrel-organ. This is how our late night shows usually begin, it leads to our disappearance and the emancipation inside the energy of sound together with the fans of RM music and it's conception. This is, however, only a performance. The root of that performance stems from inspiring creative work in studios, on rehearsals and late night brainstorming sessions. From drinking wine, exchanging thoughts and points of view. Let’s speak about the point of our music later, at the end of the story. It is not a secret that we are come from musicians' families and communities; we heard a lot of music. Therefore, just not to feel bored, we are trying to stay away from non musical people, music standards and imposed choice of performance language which is strictly determined by the "authorities" of Latvian music and their supporters. As we see our fan number growing and as we get more and more fine reviews from Latvian and foreign music critics (and we are very glad about that), as we understand that we are heading in the right direction, developing and making the culture of Latvian electronic music more colorful and exciting. Drum’n’bass, trip-hop or acid jazz – these are our only means of expression, but the main point of music is a thought, intention, conception or a manifestation – the non musical part of musical idea.

 

The idea is about metropolis. The idea is how to get lost there, how to fall asleep among all those thousands of people being divided only by 4 partition walls, to have a dream, to wake up and fill the room with sound and beauty till the room starts to resonate and finally explodes covering this city with sorrow and unrest. The idea is about Riga Metro.

Metro

Te nu mēs esam. Skatuve, gaismas, neliels darba fons, pēdējie 100 grami, kāds vēl pīpē, kāds piekārto instrumentu perifērijas pozīcijas, lai gan no tā ir maza jēga, Elīna kā parasti vēl nav ieradusies un tikmēr warm up dīdžejs neapturami spaida savas leijerkastes play pogu. Šāds sākums ir vairākiem mūsu vēlajiem nakts šoviem, kuru mērķis ir noslīkt, pazust un atbrīvoties skanējuma enerģijā kopā ar daudzajiem RM koncepcijas un mūzikas piekritējiem. Bet tā ir tikai performance, kas ir rezultāts / produkts un kuras pirmsākumos stāv milzīgs aizraujošs kreatīvs darbs mēģinājumos, studijās un pie vīna glāzes naksnīgajās domu apmaiņas sesijās. Bet par domu vēlāk, šī stāsta beigās. Nevienam nav noslēpums, ka mēs nākam no mūziķu ģimenēm un komūnām, un no mūzikas esam dzirdējuši daudz. Tādēļ, lai sev neapniktu, mēģinām turēties pa gabalu no nemuzikālu cilvēku ausīm tīkamajiem mūzikas standartiem un obligātajiem valodas izvēles nosacījumiem, kurus tik uzstājīgi diktē Latvijas mūzikas industrijas autoritātes un viņu piekritēji. Redzot kā aug mūsu atbalstītāju skaits un saņemot pozitīvus komentārus no Latvijas un ārzemju mūzikas kritiķiem (par ko mēs esam ļoti priecīgi), mēs saprotam, ka lidojam pareizajā virzienā, padarot Latvijas elektroniskās mūzikas skatuvi aizraujošāku un kopumā attīstot Latvijas elektroniskās mūzikas kultūru. Drum’n’bass, trip-hop vai acid jazz – tie ir tikai izteiksmes līdzekļi, bet galvenais ir doma, iecere, koncepcija vai manifests – mūzikas idejas nemuzikālā daļa. 

 

Un ideja ir par metropoli, ideja ir par to, kā tajā pazust, izšķīst, aizmigt pa vidu visam tam milzīgajam cilvēku pūlim, no kura tevi atdala 4 plānas starpsienas, nosapņot, pamosties un piepildīt ar skaistumu un skaņām telpu, kas beigās rezonēs un uzsprāgs, pārklājot šo pilsētu ar skumjām un nemieru. Ideja ir Riga Metro.
